Whet Foundation COVID-19 Relief Fund
Whet Travel, the leader in independent music cruise experiences, prepares for one of their largest Groove Cruise Virtual Sail Aways Live streaming events to date. The weekend of Sept. 25-27 will see 30+ live performances from worldwide headliners such as Tritonal, Autograf, Jorn Van Deynhoven, Mark Sixma, Solarstone, and more. Thanks to their super-tech hub based in FL, the 3-day massive is able to host these acts from all over the world; alongside adding live mixed visuals atop of the artists. The Groove Cruise Night Swim After Hours series will also be taking place, which are renowned for their 24+ hour sessions feat. costume changes, pizza deliveries, and more. Viewers will be able to donate for rewards, like GC merch and backstage experiences, to help support both artists performing and the Whet Foundation; also known as Whet Travel’s 501c3 nonprofit that focuses on giving back to those facing hardships and creates exciting experiences for underprivileged children in South Florida, the Caribbean, and Mexico.
The traveling entertainment company began their crusade to give back to their 16-year-old community in April of this year with the launch of the Whet Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Fund. To date, they have raised over $45,000 in which 100% of their profits have been returned to those facing hardships during the pandemic. Whet Travel has sent over 250 Groove Cruise Captains, and their extended family and friends, relief grants, alongside 250 protective face shields were given to multiple hospitals in South Florida. The CEO and Founder of Whet Travel, Whet Foundation, and Groove Cruise, Jason Beukema states, “With the cruise industry locked down for the foreseeable future and many people in our community experiencing hardships and even deaths from COVID19, we felt an extreme urge to do something. It’s been heartwarming to see the artists, our Captains, and so many more from around the world join this mission and provide hope to those who are in desperate need.”
The Whet Foundation COVID-19 Relief Fund will ease the financial burden of artists experiencing hardships, captains who sail with us, health workers keeping us safe, former employees, contractors, and partner companies that have laid off employees, and that of our extended friends and family. The COVID-19 Relief Fund provides tax-free funds for any number of hardships; including unanticipated healthcare costs, rent or mortgage payments, utility expenses, food, medicine, and other necessities.
The Whet Travel team, also known as #TEAMGETSHIPDONE, have expressed gratitude to simply be able to help those who have made up their 16 years in the travel and entertainment industries. One of the grant applicants who received relief wrote in and said, “My mom got the check thank you so much. She wrote a thank you note and is sending it back to you guys in Florida. I can’t express how much this means that you guys would think of me and my family and help us out like this. Thank you thank you thank you. You and all of Whet are incredible.”
